The truth of Usui Reiki Ryo Ho – as taught by Doi Sensei. Everything that exists is made of waves, or vibrations. There is a higher dimensional vibration that works for healing illness and giving peace of mind, it has been called Reiki since ancient times. Reiki Ryoho-ho, that is to utilise the Reiki energy for healing illness, has been used by many healers, especially from the period of Meiji (1868-1912) to the early period of Showa (1926-1989).

Reiki is effective not only to cure sickness, but also resonates to our higher consciousness, carrying the properties of wellness and happiness. Reiki-ho is called the healing energy of love and harmony. It leads us to attain a state of enlightenment by awakening to our true self and obtaining a peaceful mind. This was the teaching of Mikao Usui Sensei, who established Usui Reiki-ho through utilising Reiki to attain a happy life.
In Japan, the great life force filling the universe has been called the great soul, and each life has been called a soul since ancient times. It is similar to the concept of microcosm and macrocosm, that we are all one, and are one with the great One.
Throughout his experiences, Usui Sensei realised that for the goal of true wellness and happiness, our way of living life ought to resonate our inner Reiki with the Reiki in the universe. Usui Sensei founded the Usui Reiki Ryo-ho Gakkai, and lead people to attain the same state of mind. The objective of Usui Reiki Ryo-ho starts with hands on healing for curing, and it aims are to improve oneself in order to attain a calm mind at all times. This was the origin of Usui Reiki Ryo-ho, and was definitely different from other healing methods available that were only focused on the treatment of illness.
Usui Sensei concentrated his thoughts in the Gokai (the Five Precepts), and taught that the daily observation of the Gokai is to enhance resonance with the great universe for reaching the state of wellness and happiness.
The Path to Ultimate Wellness and Happiness – based on the Gokai of Mikao Usui Sensei:
- For today, be sunny and cheerful,
- For today, maintain serenity,
- For today, be filled with thankfulness,
- For today, do what you are meant to do,
- For today, be kind.
The hands on healing method is an entrance to Reiki-ho; however, the aim of practicing Usui Reiki Ryo-ho is to reach the state of ultimate happiness as human beings; to utilise Reiki energy for returning to the original condition in which human beings are made in perfect health.
In other countries, many Reiki practitioners have recently turned their eyes to the origins of Reiki Ryo-ho, however in Japan, there are many practitioners who still remain on the threshold because of their recognition of Reiki Ryo-ho merely as an effective method of hands on healing. This is disappointing.
In learning Gendai Reiki-Ho, you understand the essence of Reiki-ho. Reiki surrounds us as pure light. However, it is necessary to raise one’s consciousness, and to resonate with Reiki at all times. Gendai Reiki Ho was founded to achieve this, to resonate with Reiki in our daily life in order to enhance our quality of life. Moreover, it is useful for us as a microcosm to resonate with the vibrations of the great universe and to return to a state of true health and happiness. For today, let us practice the Gokai faithfully, and enhance our own consciousness.
