What is Reiki?

Japanese Kanji saying Reiki

The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words, rei and ki – as shown in the kanji pictured above.  These words are translated into English as Universal energy, or spiritual energy.

Energy

Everything in the world is made of energy.  Einstein told us that :

The mass of a body is a measure of its energy content.  It followed from the special theory of relativity that mass and energy are both but different manifestations of the same thing — a somewhat unfamiliar concept for the average mind. Furthermore, the equation E = mc², in which energy is put equal to mass, multiplied by the square of the velocity of light, showed that very small amounts of mass may be converted into a very large amount of energy and vice versa.

We draw upon this large reservoir of energy when we practice Reiki.

Usui Reiki Ryoho is a simple, yet profound hands-on natural healing system, which was founded in Japan in the early 1900’s by a man named Mikao Usui.  Usui sensei described Reiki as:

The secret to happiness.
The remedy for all diseases.

Gendai Reiki-ho

Gendai Reiki-ho is the name of the system that I practice.  This system was founded by  Hiroshi Doi, who is a member of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai – the organisation founded in the 1920’s by Mikao Usui.  Doi sensei is my teacher.

Mikao Usui’s motivation in creating the system of Reiki was to develop a path towards spiritual development, or the state of Satori – a state of calmness and perfect harmony, regardless of what is happening around us.

Reiki offers you an opportunity to live your life consciously, allowing your unique inner qualities to unfold and develop, enabling you to reach your true potentials, discovering health and happiness along the way.
