Wax and sebum are normal secretions in the ear.  They are present to prevent foreign bodies from reaching the eardrum.  Wax impaction, however, is not a normal condition, and has many symptoms, including:

The ear candles are based on a traditional formula believed to originate with the Hopi tribe of North American Indians.  The ingredients of the ear candles are impregnated in the cotton, and vaporise when the candle is lit. The vapours are drawn down the hollow centre of the candle into the outer ear – operating like a chimney. A mild suction occurs and the heat of the released, circulated vapours inside the ear gently massages the ear drum, which helps to regulate the pressure within the ear.

The circulation of the herbally-enriched vapours within the external ear soothes irritated areas, stimulates tiny reflex points around the ear, stimulates peripheral blood circulation to the ear and upper respiratory system, intensifies the immune system, and strengthens the work of the lymph glands.

Sometimes called thermo auricular therapy, the ear candle treatment is painless and soothing.  The treatment proceeds whilst you recline comfortably on the treatment table.  You will experience a feeling of warmth in your ear, with crackling sounds as the candle’s herbal ingredients vaporise and the candle burns.
